It seems to me: a week before the end of the mandate, Lapid and Netanyahu are increasing the pressure on Bennett

Bish Atid marketers appear to be agreeing and advancing in the hope that a coalition ready to form will sharpen the dilemma between government and elections on the right wing - Saar and Bennett.

Netanyahu, for his part, is pushing to close joint running agreements with the right in order to finally thwart the change government.

And Bennett, meanwhile, is procrastinating

The title of "designated finance minister" was invented by MK Nir Barkat last year. About two weeks before the third election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he is the Likud candidate for the senior position, as part of a Likud campaign. Barkat boasted about the title for about a month and a half, but after Elections, when a government was formed, Israel Katz was appointed finance minister and he remained a simple MK with the empty promise of the former nominee. Yesterday the current heir to the title was crowned. The change coalition's first coalition agreement places Avigdor Lieberman as finance minister, perhaps the strongest in the country's history - because Yisrael Beiteinu also took over the chairmanship of the finance committee. Lieberman will hold the title of finance minister for at least the next week, at the end of which the change government may collapse - at least like Netanyahu's false promises.

Lieberman is not alone.

All the leaders of the parties and senior members of the bloc that oppose Netanyahu have received or will receive in the coming days one or another prestigious placement in the government of change.

From the beginning of the week, Bish Atid reports at least twice a day on agreements with Blue and White, Labor and Meretz, and by the end they strive to reach agreements with all of them and thus put pressure on the right side - a new hope and especially Naftali Bennett's right - to reach the negotiating table. .

the mandate of Yair Lapid remains another week, and briefing the message, each agreement, nearly one can begin to imagine the table the government of change: Lieberman treasury, Benny Gantz, Defense Minister Horowitz Minister of health, Merav Michaeli transport server, Tamar Zandberg environmental protection, and even the Minister An Arab - Issawi Farage who is to be appointed Minister of Regional Cooperation - only without the right and Bennett - all the agreements are just memories and all the ministers, like Barkat, are still only designated.

The government of change - the impending division of portfolios

  • Yisrael Beiteinu - Finance, Negev Galilee, Finance Committee, additional portfolio

  • Blue and white - security, immigration and absorption, culture and sports, agriculture

  • Meretz - health, environmental protection, regional cooperation

  • Work - transportation, homeland security, additional portfolio

  • There is a future - foreign, Knesset Speaker, 5-4 more cases

  • New hope - law, education, 2 more cases

  • Right - face, religions

The other parties in the bloc of change are flowing with Lapid's negotiations out of politeness, but few believe that he will eventually lead to the Promised Land. One of the bloc's senior officials estimated the chance of forming a government at 5%. Another described the contacts as "games I think." Bennett, the missing squad, has not spoken to Lapid for nearly two weeks since announcing the cessation of talks due to the fighting in Gaza and internal party pressures. Even if he returns at the last minute, it is unclear which faction he will come with, ie how the Ayelet Shaked problem will be solved. And Gideon Saar sees eye to eye with the division of power within the right-wing bloc.

The support of RAAM and Mansour Abbas, which is necessary for the formation of a unity / minority government, is still in question. Bish Atid hopes that a coalition ready to form will sharpen the dilemma for all players in the face of the fifth election to which Netanyahu is leading; And even if the effort fails, it will launch the game of accusations over the election and dim the failure of Lapid's mandate in defense of "at least we tried."

Meanwhile, the "right" insists that they do not return to the table of the change government.

Only this does not convince the Likud, where they are convinced that Bennett plans to flee in favor of a tempting and renewed rotation proposal.

Negotiations between the Likud and the right, as in the bloc of change, also revolve around itself.

Netanyahu demands that Bennett declare his loyalty to the ultra-Orthodox right-wing bloc, and publicly close the door to any other government;

On the right, they demand that the Likud present them with a path to the government, that is, defectors from a new hope, before giving any commitment.

Without a commitment from the right, the Likud says, the defectors will not come.

And without defectors, they say on the right, no commitment is given.

Saar made it clear this week that he did not sit in any conspiracy with Netanyahu, Gantz also insists that he is not interested, and the MKs of both of them sweepingly deny all the boastful Likud defection proposals. Even if there are those who consider them, it will only happen at the very last moment.

In the absence of a government, negotiations between Netanyahu and Bennett are focused on the armor that the right-wingers will receive in the Likud ahead of the fifth election, and it, meanwhile, is faltering, while internal opposition to the Likud is growing. Lapid's and fortify himself before the transfer of the seat to the Knesset with a large bloc that will finally thwart any possibility of another government. Bennett is still procrastinating. But right now, Bad Future has left the question of rotation vague, but has not ruled out the possibility that the proposal that will be put at Bennett's door will be the same as the one he received before the fighting.

Towards the end of the week the pressure on both sides will increase.

Both Lapid, Netanyahu and Bennett have a last chance to maintain control before the mandate expires and return to the Knesset, so other players, such as Ganz and Saar, can join the race to recruit 61 signatures, replacing Bennett in the Likud and ultra-Orthodox circles.

In the future, Bish Atid began promoting a bill for the early dissolution of the Knesset this week, which could shorten the 21-day period and cut off the other scenarios, as they all lead in one way or another to the government with the Likud and Netanyahu.

This is a move that is primarily intended to stress Bennett, and make the threat of elections a reality, but he does not necessarily have a majority, unless Balfour decides in a surprising sharing of interests that they also want to shorten proceedings.

Thus, between the prosecution of the nominees and the markers of the defectors, the least imaginative scenario still seems like a fifth choice.
