A new edition, which while respecting safety rules and pandemic restrictions, does not give up courage and sharing, with 4 regions involved, 200 artists called to perform, ten stages in as many squares. At the forefront of the organization is the National Federation "Italian Jazz" - with the operational coordination of the I-Jazz Association - together with Mibact, the Municipality of L'Aquila-Restart Project the Main Sponsor SIAE-Italian Society of Authors and Publishers, NuovoIMAIE .
The start on 29 August in Camerino with a musical event and then start the second edition of the March of solidarity (a week of concerts and trekking in the heart of the Earthquake), the conclusion, as is now tradition, in L'Aquila, the 5 and 6 September with two days of more diluted events but still with great live music.
2020 also marks the handover in the artistic direction: Paolo Fresu gives the baton to a three-part direction, which will change year after year. Ada Montellanico (musician, singer and president of the Association Il Jazz Va a Scuola), Simone Graziano (musician and president of the Association of Italian Musicians of Jazz) and Luciano Linzi (artistic director of the Casa del Jazz) and the JAZZMI festival, councilor of the I-Jazz Association).
But there are several new features announced, starting with the tribute to three musicians who disappeared in recent months such as Gianni Lenoci, Aldo Bassi and Carlo Conti. And then an original production of the Orchestra of the Conservatory of L'Aquila together with Maestro Enrico Intra and career awards. As always, great attention to the new generations and to "female" projects.
"When in 2015 we started with the idea of ​​bringing jazz to L'Aquila as a sign of solidarity for the territories affected by the earthquake it had to be a unique and exceptional event - said the Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini -. led to make it an annual event that in a few years has become a point of reference for Italian jazz and international jazz. And to give security to an event that is a symbol of rebirth and hope, Siae has also taken the field and has signed, with President Mogol, a protocol to support Italian jazz for the earthquake lands with € 300,000 in 5 years, as well as 700 thousand euros for the reconstruction of the Aquila conservatory.
Among the artists involved are the names of Antonello Salis, Simone Zanchini, Stefano Cocco Cantini, Silvia Bolognesi, Ares Tavolazzi, Roberto Ottaviano, Pietro Tonolo, Mauro Ottolini, Fabrizio Bosso, Giovanni Guidi, Marco Colonna, Marcella Carboni, Dario Cecchini, Susanna Boots , Naomi Berril many others.
