In Europe there is chaos at the airports in several countries.

Airlines in Italy have now announced strikes.

There are delays and cancellations on numerous flights.

Rome – There is currently chaos at many airports – not only in Germany.

Passengers fear for their luggage and have to be prepared for delays or cancellations.

To make matters worse, there are now strikes in addition to the congestion at airports: The airline Easyjet in Spain has been on strike since Friday and has already announced further days in July.

Travelers to Italy also have to be prepared for difficulties with their flight.

From Sunday (July 17) there should also be strikes by several airlines.

Several unions called on the staff of air traffic control Enav and the low-cost airlines Ryanair, Easyjet and Volotea to a four-hour warning strike at Italian airports on Sunday, the union federations said.

The reason is therefore a dispute over employee rights, working conditions and the payment of minimum wages in the industry.

For travelers, however, this means one thing above all on Sunday: numerous delays and cancellations.

Big strikes on Sunday: Germany also affected by cancellations

Flights to Germany are also said to be affected by the consequences of the strike. Easyjet canceled the connection from Linate Airport in Milan to Berlin due to the nationwide strike.

Ryanair said it was forced to cancel some flights because of the Enav strike.

The passengers have already been informed.

According to Enav, the walkout will last from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Flights between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. are not affected.

The airports in Italy are currently not affected by other chaos like in Germany.

In Germany, for example, thousands of pieces of luggage were lying around at Munich Airport for days.

According to information from the Tagesschau

, the reason for the rather calm situation - apart from the strikes -

is apparently financial injections from the state, which supported Italian airports during the corona pandemic.

That's what the head of the civil aviation authority (ENAC), Pierluigi Di Palma, told the Ansa news agency.

In total, financial aid of around 800 million euros was paid.

Chaos alarm at airports: This is how it works in other European countries

According to tagesschau.de

, other European countries are

not struggling with staff shortages either.

In Austria, Greece and Cyprus, for example, summer travel can be pursued as normally as possible.

At least in Greece and Cyprus, irregularities are currently more likely due to delays from Germany.

In Turkey, too, there is currently no shortage of staff, and delays are sometimes caused by a large number of trips.

Meanwhile, other countries share the airport chaos with Germany: In the Netherlands, chaos is said to prevail everywhere, from delays to baggage congestion to flight cancellations.

Great Britain and France are also struggling with significant problems at Paris airports.
