The case turns the Italian political class.
Massimo Adriatici, an elected Italian far-right, municipal deputy for security of Voghera (north), shot dead a Moroccan during an altercation in a public square on Tuesday evening, an act of self-defense, according to the chief of his party, Matteo Salvini.
Massimo Adriatici, elected from La Ligue, former police commander, was placed under house arrest under judicial control and the prosecution opened an investigation for a disproportionate act of defense, according to the Ansa agency, which quotes sources close to the investigation.
When contacted, the local police were not immediately reachable.
The victim, shot in the chest, is a 39-year-old Moroccan.
According to the local press, he was bothering a woman outside a bar in Voghera, near Padua, when the elected municipal official intervened.
After the latter called the police, the man allegedly started pushing him.
The chosen one, who was carrying a pistol, claims that a shot went off as he fell to the ground.
For Matteo Salvini, former Minister of the Interior, Mr. Adriatici was "the victim of aggression" and acted "in self-defense".

Senator of the Democratic Party (center-left) Alan Ferrari, elected from the region, also immediately urged Matteo Salvini to condemn the facts. "In a civilized and democratic country, an assistant does not shoot a person," he said.
In 2018, in an interview with the Italian newspaper the Provincia Pavese, Massimo Adriatici had declared, on the subject of firearms, that their use "must be justified by a real danger, for the person who uses it, for his property or those of others.
