There was once a reputation among Korean Japanese expatriates that it was difficult to eat delicious Italian food in Korea. But that is an old story. There are now several famous Italian restaurants in Seoul. In particular, “joooo”, which has regular ambassadors from all over the world, is a well-known store for government agencies and companies. The name of the store, which uses the Korean word “encounter”, which means to meet unexpectedly, has a feeling for Japan that chefs put in.
The store is located in a residential area adjacent to one of the five great palaces in Seoul, Gyeonghuigung. The lunch course meal is a daily “Okakase”. When I visited in mid-September, the appetizer was asparagus and cheese, ham phyllo dough wrap and watercress salad. The main pasta is Putanesca with tomato sauce with large shrimps. The dessert was 35,000 won (about 3160 yen) with tiramisu of mascarpone cheese with a light and refreshing flavor.
