Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka, ranked number two in the world, lit the Olympic flame for the 32nd edition of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which officially started today.
Reuters reported that Osaka's first match in the Tokyo Olympics was postponed for one day to next Sunday at the request of the Olympic organizers to assign the honor of lighting the Olympic flame to it.
Osaka, who has won four Grand Slam titles, was scheduled to start her campaign tomorrow in the Olympic Games against China's Saisai Cheng on the main court of the Ariaki Tennis Complex.
Osaka has not played any official matches since withdrawing from the French Open last May after deciding not to attend mandatory press conferences after matches to preserve her mental health.
