As a substitute for the concert on Tuesday, September 21st, the Swede Daniel Tengberg could be won and for today, Wednesday, September 22nd, Daniulo Ishizaka will take over the “benchmarks” at the concert.

The Kempten Classix audience has already accepted some surprises. This coming Friday, September 24th, 8 p.m., there will be another exceptional musician on the stage of the city theater - with a surprise program.

Brad Mehldau has built up a large fan base worldwide over the years, who can expect a uniquely intense experience live. Innovator of the classic jazz piano trio, emotionally deep eclectic, idiosyncratic traditionalist and great romantic - Mehldau has to endure such titles as well as the comparison with Bill Evans, which is always drawn because of biographical parallels: highly sensitive, inspired, melancholy, romantic, driven by an inner force . On the one hand, Brad Mehldau is the improviser who over-appreciates the wonder and surprise that can arise from a spontaneous musical idea and likes to implement it in real time. On the other hand, he is deeply fascinated by the formal architecture of music - this is also reflected in every facet of his playing. In his most inspired moments, the structure of his musical thought becomes another means of expression.

The main influences in Mehldau's music come from Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert as well as from Oscar Peterson and Keith Jarrett - but also from Miles Davis and John Coltrane. His way of playing the piano is often compared to that of Bill Evans, even if, according to Mehldau, there are significant differences in musical conception. In addition to his own compositions and jazz standards, Mehldau also integrates music that at first glance appears to be far from jazz in his repertoire, for example from the alternative band Radiohead or from folk singer Nick Drake as well as from the Beatles.

The Grammy Award winner and several times nominated jazz pianist plays a program according to the announcement - including from the new suite (melancholy snapshots from difficult times) and from After Bach, appropriations from the Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach.
