Health Minister Spahn can finally announce a success: The digital vaccination certificate should be available to everyone by the end of June. RKI boss Wieler spoils the good mood. The pandemic is not over yet.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn presented the digital vaccination card at his weekly press conference.

In addition to the yellow vaccination pass, there will now be a digital option to prove your vaccination, the »CovPass«.

Spahn again dampened expectations.

Let's start now, "step by step," said Spahn.

The CovPass should be available to everyone by the end of June.

"We keep our word here," said Spahn.

A complete corona vaccination should then also be able to be proven by smartphone.

The »CovPass« should be able to be used as a receipt in case of relaxed corona restrictions and facilitate travel in Europe during the summer vacation time.

The vaccination should then also be detectable in the Corona warning app.

"You see a satisfied Federal Minister of Health," said Spahn.

The number of infections went down significantly.

Yesterday, Germany recorded the second highest value of daily vaccinations.

It is now a matter of securing what has been achieved, said Spahn.

The head of the Robert Koch Institute Lothar Wieler praised the positive developments, "and yet the pandemic is unfortunately not over yet," he said. The number of cases is ten times as high today as at the same time last year. "During the pandemic we got used to these high numbers of illnesses and deaths," said Wieler, "but we mustn't forget that there are people behind this high number." The outbreaks in old people's and nursing homes are not over yet. There are currently about 40 of them - some with fatal consequences. This is due to the fact that not everyone is vaccinated everywhere and that vaccinated people could still become infected.

This shows how important it is to adhere to additional protective measures and that loosening can only be done carefully.

"It is crucial that we keep the virus under control over the long term."

That is just not the case, many people have not yet been vaccinated.

It was not all over.

Everyone wished for normalcy, but now it is a matter of continuing to be careful.

Spahn also commented on the fraud in test centers.

"Anyone who cheats will be severely punished," he said.

He reacted to the fraud cases with a new test regulation.

Spahn emphasized that this regulation had been coordinated with all departments - a swipe at the coalition partner SPD and the dispute over supposedly inferior masks.
