Judo: silver and bronze for Israel at the European Youth Championships Israel today

Adalina Nowitzki is the European runner-up after losing in the final to the 2021 world runner-up, Spain's Laura Vazquez Fernandez, in the weight up to 63 kg • Mia Kogan who competed in the weight up to 70 kg also made it onto the podium


Today (Friday), the Israeli national team continued its successful campaign in the European Under-21 Championship held in Prague, with two more medals, silver and bronze. 

Adalina Nowitzki is the European runner-up after winning the silver medal in the weight up to 63 kg, and Mia Kogan who competed in the weight up to 70 kg won the bronze medal.  

Nowitzki started the day of fights with a win with a Wasseri advantage in the Golden Score over the German Victoria Folger, continued with a victory in Wasseri in the second round over the Austrian Jacqueline Kraft, and in the quarterfinals she beat the Croatian Ines Filpovic in the Ipon.

In the semi-finals, Vasari beat Romania's Florentina Ivanescu, bronze medalist from the 2022 Grand Prix of Portugal.  

In the final, Nowitzki met the runner-up of the world champion from 2021, Spain's Laura Vázquez Fernandez, who managed to decide the battle in her favor with an iPhone, leaving the Israeli with the silver medal and the title of European runner-up under 21 for 2022. 

Kogan, who competed in the weight category up to 70 kg, began the day of fights in the second round with a Golden Score victory over the French Florine Sola, and was later defeated in the quarterfinals by the Austrian Jelena Ding. Following the loss, she was relegated to the consolation bracket, where she won the preliminary bout in the Ipon against the Ukrainian Maria Rittska. 

In the battle for the bronze, Ipon beat the Czech Julie Zrivnica and ended a successful day for her on the podium, and with the important bronze medal in the target competition.
