Former Brazilian judoka Charles Chibana was added today (Saturday) to the team of the Israeli women's judo team led by Shani Hershko.
The 32-year-old Chibana, retired in 2020 at the height of the Corona, when during his career (up to 66 kg), he participated in the Olympic Games in Rio where he was eliminated in his first fight, and at the same time achieved a series of medals in the round competitions (4 times won the face-offs -America).
Women's national team coach Shani Hershko said: "I am very pleased with the addition of Charles Cibana to the women's national team. Charles was added to the coaching staff after many long searches for a quality and professional coach and was selected from many high-quality candidates."
"I am very happy that we were able to conclude his joining the Paris 2024 campaign. Charles and Ido Bar will be part of the team next to me, a team that will focus on preparing the Olympic athletes for Paris 2024. Charles was a tremendous athlete with exceptional abilities, he belongs to a Brazilian Japanese family "And I have many decades of experience and I have no doubt that he will contribute much of his knowledge and heritage to the women's team. I wish Charles and the women's team joint success."
