It happens again.
While Iranian athletes are still being delayed from participating in international judo competitions following their refusal to compete against Israelis, it becomes clear today (Saturday) that another Iranian judoka managed to escape the country.
Alireza Beharnifred left everything behind him, when he first made his way to Turkey and then arrived in Germany, where he is seeking asylum.
In doing so, he hopes he will soon join the refugee team and be able to fulfill his dream of participating in the Olympic Games in Paris.
The 18-year-old judoka mainly participated in international cadet competitions, in the Asian Championship and the Tbilisi Open Championship, and did not get a chance in the senior team until now, what's more, the restrictions on his country didn't really help that.
In the last few days, he has uploaded several stories on social networks, when he is traveling in Germany.
This is not the first time that Iranian judokas have fled their country, with the big story known to everyone being of course that of Saeed Moulay, who escaped the Iranian delegation during the World Championships in Tokyo in 2019 and now represents Azerbaijan.

In general, the phenomenon is widespread not only in judo.
In recent months we have also seen athletes in boxing, taekwondo and just recently the 17-year-old weightlifter, Yakta Jamali, "disappeared" during the last day of the World Youth Championship in Crete and also arrived in Germany.
