In the second part of our interview, 1860 coach Michael Köllner talks about new stimuli, ex-national coach Löw, expert statements from Uli Hoeneß and contaminated sites.

This Saturday the Lions get going - at 2 p.m. the Würzburger Kickers will come to the Grünwalder Stadium (BR and MagentaSport live).

Here is the second part of our season opener interview with coach Michael Köllner.

Mr. Köllner, you let the team practice a new system with a three-way chain in order to be more flexible and to set new stimulus points in training.

What is your conclusion?

I'm satisfied, the team pulled along well, so we have one more option.

I discuss a lot with the players and ask what position everyone feels most comfortable in.

The maxim is that we put every player in their best position.

But of course, in the end it's always a compromise.

As a coach, I have to take responsibility for the results, not the players.

National coach Joachim Löw seemed to have a different maxim at the failed EM.

Oh, this discussion about the chain of three is such a German phenomenon.

The problem was rather the lack of practice.

If the defense chief (meant: Mats Hummels / Red.) Arrives relatively late and was not involved beforehand, then that is simply unfavorable.

I still think that Jogi Löw has given German football a lot.

Klinsmann back then, that was a purely emotional story.

Only Löw created sustainability.

The EM analysis by Uli Hoeneß turned out to be more personal immediately after the German end.

Keyword Toni Kroos.

.

I think it's bad when, after the end of their careers, people still feel that they have to express their opinion on every topic.

Exceptions prove the rule.

Helmut Schmidt, our best Federal Chancellor, oversaw things, the man had class, I was happy to listen to him.

You are not a taciturn person either.

(laughs) After my time as a football coach, I'll have enough other things to do. I won't have to call the newspaper anymore, none at all.

There is so much I want to do.

For example?

To travel!

To Tibet, Burma, Bhutan - to spiritual countries.

I'm interested in that.

I want to go where people are probably most satisfied, I want to see that with my own eyes.

I have already put down roots here - and would like to put down deeper roots as well.

But unfortunately nobody gives me the building plots that I imagine.

How satisfied are you in Munich?

I have already put down roots here - and would like to put down deeper roots as well.

But unfortunately nobody gives me the building plots that I imagine.

In Harlaching I have already looked at two or three vacant houses and properties, but they are not for sale - at least not at an affordable price.

The keyword is affordable.

How great would the personnel upheaval at sixty have been in the event of promotion?

There would have been some work to be done.

And I don't know whether everything would have been feasible, whether we would have managed the budget structure in such a way that it was enough.

They allude to the deferred payments that would have been due in the event of an advancement.

Remaining rent arena, catering.

.

.

Don't get me wrong, of course we would all have liked to play in the second division.

But it will have made sense that we did not ascend.

If it hits you upstairs and hits you right back down again, what have you won?

You have to go up with a team that is already competitive - and then bring in reinforcements in a targeted manner.

Would you have trusted Sascha Mölders to play the 2nd division?

Yes why not?

The quality of his graduation is still top notch.

The questions are: Can we as a team relieve him defensively in such a way that he doesn't have to walk much and we still get him into position again and again?

And can he torture himself again and again in training, repeatedly pulling himself up after minor injuries?

The important thing is that we have got a guy like Marcel Bär who is also of high quality.

So far, his goal rate has always been in the single digits.

Wait and see, the boy is doing really well here.

One problem child is Stefan Lex, whose final quality you clearly criticized in preparation.

What was the reaction like?

Of course it shook him, but we talked about it internally, he also wants more himself.

The pressure was just enormous on him last season.

There were hardly any alternatives, he is tense.

Now he is no longer under such pressure.

Aha.

We have to face the rules of professional football and those are results.

We cannot build an oasis of well-being here, our own lion world that has nothing to do with reality.

Do you sometimes look worried over to rival Türkgücü, where one player after the other was signed?

No, I'm quite relaxed about that.

Of course they have great ambitions and a whole range of experienced players - like last year.

But there are also some issues that reduce success, but I don't want to go into them in more detail now.

At sixty, the factor that reduced success for years was the conflict between the club and the investor.

How tenable does the current peace of the shareholders feel to you?

So far, I have had the feeling with both Robert Reisinger and Hasan Ismaik that they are interested in sporting success.

There will always be disagreements, that's not a bad thing.

It is important that it remains factual.

I'm looking forward to the general meeting in autumn.

I'll be there every minute because I want to know how the club works.

How close have you got to Ismaik so far?

He wrote me a personal letter on the death of my father, I found that very sympathetic, that was great. We haven't spoken personally yet, contact was through his brother Yahya. For me it is crucial that he is satisfied with our work. But of course I would like to get to know him. What you hear like that shouldn't take too long either.
