United States Vice President Kamala Harris announced Wednesday that she will travel to Mexico and Guatemala in early June, her first overseas trip since taking office on January 20.

“At this point, I plan to visit Mexico and Guatemala on June 7 and 8,”
she said.
The vice-president, who has been charged by US President Joe Biden with managing the sensitive immigration file, has more broadly pledged global action against the causes "
at the root"
of the influx of migrants to the border with Mexico.
"We will not make significant progress if corruption persists in the region,"
she stressed earlier this week.
