Anastasia Gorbenko's Hungarian opponent made an interesting statement before the European Championships: "I worked hard for the last six weeks" • A total of 1,500 male and female swimmers from 48 dunes will participate in the competition that will start tomorrow

The swimmer Katinka Huso, considered the second most decorated of all time, was surprised last year at the European Championships in the 200 meter medley where she holds the world record, by none other than - Anastasia Gorbenko who won the gold.

This year, Hungary will want to regain the honor, as they try to keep the same place on the podium for the second year in a row.

Today (Wednesday) the swimmer held a press conference for the opening of the European Championships, when she talked about the past period and what awaits her in the coming week.

"I've worked hard for the past six weeks, it's a short time to make a miracle, but I really hope I can reach the same level, and maybe a little better than at the World Championships in June," said Husso, who has won an unprecedented number of 96 medals in major events (Olympics, World and European Championships).

About the championship in Rome she said: "I love competing here, I won my first gold here at the world championship and I have beautiful memories. I hope to collect memories this time as well. We have a strong team with many young people, when I am ready to compete and hope to do so already on the mission on the opening day."

The 15-time European champion also talked about the future: "When I talked about the goal of a hundred medals, I didn't say that I would retire after that, the door is still open. There are only two years until the Olympics and of course it is exciting, but I will have to work very hard during these two years. It is there in my mind, because This will be the last chance, but I haven't decided yet."

For the championship itself, Husso comes with the second result in Tiva this year - 2:10.72 minutes, while the fastest time in 2022 is held by Gorbenko with 2:10.23 minutes, when the qualifiers will take place this Monday (15.8), the same evening as the semi-finals and the day after the finals.

A total of 1,500 male and female swimmers from 48 dunes will participate in the championship that will start tomorrow, in a variety of water sports - swimming, artistic swimming, diving and diving from a height.
