Kenya: record holder Agnes Tirop killed, her husband arrested

(ANSA) - NAIROBI, OCTOBER 14 - The husband of Agnes Tirop, the Kenyan athlete twice bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the world championships and gold cross-country world championships in 2015, who was found dead yesterday, was arrested in Mombasa with stab wounds to his abdomen at his home in the Iten High-Altitude Training Center in western Kenya. The man was arrested in Mombasa while he was trying to leave the country, police explained. The 25-year-old killed athlete finished fourth in the 5,000m Olympic final two months ago in Tokyo. Last month she set the women's world record for women's road racing in Germany. The disappearance had been reported on Tuesday evening by her father.When the police entered the casaieri they found Tirop on the bed and on the floor a pool of blood.
