The center-right council that for a little less than a year has led the Municipality of Voghera (Pavia), led by the mayor Paola Garlaschelli, is once again at the center of a political storm. This time the controversy is fueled by the sentence written by Giancarlo Gabba, Northern League exponent and councilor for public works of the Oltrepadano municipality, in a confidential chat of the council that dates back to last June.

Discussing with other councilors the problems that would have been created by a shop frequented by foreigners in the city, Gabba commented: "As long as you do not start shooting, it will always be worse!".

The excerpt of this conversation was published on the Facebook page "Politics is participation", particularly popular with the citizens of Voghera. What is also striking is the fact that this statement, in an interview that was supposed to remain private but that someone wanted to disseminate, was made about a month before the death of Youns El Boussettaoui, the 39-year-old Moroccan who was killed by a shot from the gun of Massimo Adriatici, at the time councilor for security. Adriatici, who for this matter is under investigation for culpable excess of self-defense, has left the council. In recent days, the mayor Garlaschelli has implemented a reshuffle, inserting two new councilors.

But just now that a bit of tranquility seemed to have returned to the Vogherese political circles, a new controversy broke out for the chat with the declaration of the councilor Gabba, a few weeks before the tragic episode in Piazza Meardi. In the council there are questions about who has spread a conversation that should have remained confidential. But in the meantime, heavy criticism of the city government is raining down again from the opposition.
