In order to raise the public’s safety awareness and teach children the correct attitude towards riding the bus, KMB recently launched a safety bus with mini games on it, hoping to teach safety awareness, such as wearing seat belts and holding real handrails.

KMB stated that it will plan to arrange safety buses to different schools to promote safety awareness.

The KMB safety bus officially landed its service last Wednesday (17th). The first stop was for the Islamic Bao Bo Tao Memorial Primary School. On that day, about 60 primary school students boarded the bus one after another.

The safety bus is a single-deck bus with a blue body and "stop, see, and let" written on the body.

There are different mini games and equipment in the compartment. For example, when a doll is used to simulate a sudden stop of a bus or an accident, once the seat belt is not worn, it may be thrown off the seat.

In addition, there are staff on the bus to explain some bus knowledge and etiquette to the students, such as understanding the fire hammer, and allowing wheelchair passengers to board the bus first.

KMB’s safety director, Kwan Cuilan, said that public education is an important part of imparting safety awareness. It is hoped that through games, children can experience the knowledge firsthand, and then tell their family members, such as the importance of wearing seat belts.

She said that due to the epidemic, the safety bus will not officially land until this year. For the time being, there is only one, and it is in contact with different schools. She hopes to organize similar activities in other schools in the future, and will also consider cooperating with non-profit organizations.

Regarding whether it is necessary to legislate to regulate the wearing of seat belts by bus passengers, Kwan Tsui-lan said that it is up to the government to decide and KMB will continue to promote its importance.

She also said that although there are no statistics on how many passengers wear seat belts, in view of current trends, more and more passengers are accustomed to wearing seat belts, and KMB is also gradually installing seat belts on the upper deck of buses.

Shi Zhiduan, the principal of the Islamic Bao Botao Memorial Primary School, said that many students in the school take buses to school, believing that safety buses provide students with first-hand experience, learn more about bus equipment and safety knowledge.

She also said that the students are very involved in the game and hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with KMB again so that more students can board the bus to learn and play.
