Kochel - Good news from Kochel: The oil film on the Kochelsee is receding.

This is reported by the Tölz district office.

On Saturday (September 24th) an oil film spread on the water surface at Lake Kochel.

Police, municipality, fire brigade and district office as well as the water management office in Weilheim were on site.

It is about 600 liters of leaked heating oil, which initially got into the ground.

According to district office spokeswoman Marlis Peischer, it is still being determined how the oil entered the lake.

According to the district authorities, it is known that the heating oil had seeped into the oil tank of the Kristall-Therme Trimini for technical reasons when it was being filled up.

In total, the area of the water covered with oil covered about 1000 square meters.

Fire brigade installed oil barrier

The Kochler fire brigade was alerted around 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Volunteers arrived and set up an oil barrier more than 200 meters long on the lake.

This was checked again and again over the weekend.

According to district office spokeswoman Peischer, measures were taken immediately.

Special oil binding agents were used.

This allowed the oil to be removed and disposed of.

The barriers prevented the oil from spreading in the lake.

The Kochel fire brigade, which was supported by comrades from Tegernsee, is still on site.

soil is examined

Next, in the presence of the Weilheim Water Management Office, so-called excavators and small pile probing will take place to further narrow down the extent of the pollution.

The further work is based on that.

For a dig, an excavator digs a hole at certain points so that the layers of soil become visible.

In this way, sample material can also be taken, according to the district authority.

The density and condition of the soil is examined with the small ram probing.

So far no sick animals found

Whether and to what extent the animal and plant world is affected is observed.

"So far, neither sick fish nor birds have been found," said district spokeswoman Peischer.

The Tölz district office asks water sports enthusiasts to "keep a large distance from the oil barriers".
