FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr described the situation on the German labor market as "dramatic" and called for "urgently needed immigration at all levels" and improved integration.

»After the guest worker phase in the 1960s and 1970s, the labor market closed itself off.

This attitude has never really been broken," Dürr told the "Welt am Sonntag".

Hundreds of thousands of people who have been living in Germany for years have even been kept out of the labor market.

“The opposite must be the case.

Today the motto has to be: Anyone who can make a living from the work of their own hands must be allowed to work immediately,” demanded Dürr.

The government led by the Union made a historic mistake.

"The situation is dramatic and because that's the case, we need immigration."

When the baby boomers retire, there will be people in the labor market that are half their size.

»It is about urgently needed immigration at all levels in the labor market.

Anyone who can make a living from the work of their own hands is welcome.

After all, he pays taxes and pays into the pension.«

A few days ago, at the request of the aviation industry, the government announced that it would make it easier for aid workers to enter the country.

They are supposed to help out temporarily at the airports, where staff shortages cause long queues, waiting times, flight delays and cancellations.

On Friday, the Hotel and Restaurant Association also called for easier immigration rules for workers from abroad due to the shortage of staff.
