Landlord found: Penzberger Volksfest is taking place

On the Penzberger Berghalde there can be a folk festival mood again - but showmen and stands are still unknown.

Penzberg – The Penzberg folk festival takes place from August 26th to September 4th.

The city has signed the contract with the new innkeeper Holger governor.

The ancestral landlord family Fahrenschon surprisingly canceled the folk festival at the beginning of July.

The step was justified by a lack of staff.

Mayor Stefan Korpan (CSU) and the administration have since tried to organize an alternative.

After weeks of deadlock and ultimately unsuccessful negotiations with a prospective customer from the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the town hall reported completion on Tuesday afternoon (9 August): host Holger Controller from Eichstätt signed the same day with the second mayor Markus Bocksberger (PM), Korpan stays on vacation, the implementation contract.

According to the town hall, the festival is to take place “in almost the same way from Friday (August 26) to Sunday (September 4) on the Berghalde fairgrounds.

The exact program has not yet been announced.

The time window kept getting tighter

The time window had become narrower and narrower in the last few days.

However, the mayor managed to find a new interested party.

"The Penzberger Volksfest can take place - which may sound almost unbelievable given the short time we had after the surprising cancellation of our first festival host.

But we now have an innkeeper, a tent, a brewery and we have showmen,” Korpan summarizes with relief.

After the detailed questions have been clarified, the way is paved for a folk festival "that does not need to hide behind the usual festivals", as the town hall says.

This also includes a "proper start to the celebration" on the town square, including dance performances by the traditional costume associations and the usual free beer serving.

Staff is not a problem

"I'm looking forward to Penzberg," emphasizes Festwirt Controller.

The 49-year-old restaurateur has already organized folk festivals in Schwaig near Nuremberg, Tirschenreuth and Haimhausen.

He is currently in Kelheim.

From there he will have the tent brought to Penzberg: it offers space for around 2200 people, and there will also be a beer garden.

Controller, who says he worked in the show technology industry for many years before starting his gastronomic career, emphasizes: "I've always enjoyed organizing big parties and celebrations." : "I have my team together." Only two jumpers for the kitchen would be missing.

The landlord also has the promises of the bands and bands for the show program.
