Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlot Chavushulu met today (Wednesday) with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.

The Turkish Foreign Minister's visit is the first visit by a Turkish Foreign Minister to Israel in 15 years.
The visit comes amid a significant warming in relations between the two countries in recent months, culminating in a summit in Ankara between President Herzog and Turkish President Erdogan.

The Turkish Foreign Minister landed in Israel on Tuesday.
On the first day of the visit, he focused on talks with the Palestinians in Ramallah and met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Chabushulu stressed in Ramallah that warming relations with Israel would not change Turkish support for the Palestinians.
Lapid and the Turkish Foreign Minister met for more than an hour in private and then in a wider forum with their advisers.
Chebushulu is expected to pay a private visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem later today.

Lapid said that following the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister Israel wants to see progress not only in political relations but also in economic and civil relations between the countries.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said that despite the disagreements - the dialogue between Israel and Turkey is important and beneficial to the countries and peace in the region.
"If we work on a positive agenda it will help us resolve disputes," Chabushulu said.
He noted that the renewed dialogue at the senior levels between Israel and Turkey has greatly helped to act to restore calm during the last Ramadan.
"We have sensitivity and concern about Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The normalization between us will have a positive effect on the peace process," the Turkish foreign minister said.
He added that Turkey would be happy to see Israeli airlines land in Turkey again.
In recent years, Israeli airlines have stopped flying to Turkey due to a lack of agreement between the countries on security arrangements.

Lapid and his Turkish counterpart said talks between the two countries would continue between Foreign Ministry chiefs on both sides. At this stage it is still unclear if and when the two countries' ambassadors will be returned. .
