For centuries, fire fishing was practiced in northern Taiwan, in which a fisherman lit a stick after mixing water with calcium carbide so that the sardines would jump out of the water into the nets laid by another fisherman.
Thanks to a tourist trip organizer and a 28-year-old fisherman, they revived the tradition that 60 years ago about 100 fishing boats sailed and lit the sky with their flares.
