Two days after the devastating explosion in a Leverkusen waste incineration plant in Chempark, emergency services found three other people dead in the rubble.
The police and the public prosecutor announced.
The number of fatalities now discovered increased to five.
According to the Chempark operating company Currenta, 31 people were injured.
Two people are still missing, the authorities said.
It had previously been said that there was little hope of finding the missing person alive.
The detonation had occurred on Tuesday morning in a tank farm in the Chempark - an area with chemical companies.
The search for missing persons turned out to be difficult.
