Ligue 2: Caen and Paris FC at the party, Toulouse can blame themselves

2021-07-24T20:20:12.032Z

Ligue 2 made its return this Saturday with its multiplex. Now coached respectively by Thierry Laurey and Stéphane Moulin, Paris FC and SM Caen have taken control of the championship.

Thanks to its large victory over Grenoble (4-0), Paris FC took the lead in the Ligue 2 championship on the first day, tied with Caen, winner by the same score from Rodez.

The PFC relied on the performance of Gaëtan Laura, author of the opening scoring (37th) and the origin of two other goals.

The Parisians, 5th last season, show their ambitions from the opening of the championship.

Worn by the man of the evening, Alexandre Mendy, author of a hat-trick, the Stade Malherbe de Caen is also starting this season with a bang, having barely maintained itself in Ligue 2 the previous season.

Mendy, author of the first goal of the evening (1st) from a cross strike, did it again (19th, 38th) and drew all the light at the Michel-d'Ornano stadium, eclipsing Stéphane Moulin, who made his debut on the bench after ten seasons in Angers.

Toulouse did not know how to take advantage

But shortly after half an hour of play, it was on Ajaccio's playmaker Qazim Laci that the spotlight turned, when he scored the best goal of the first multiplex of the season against Toulouse. Two minutes after the opening of the Toulouse score, he inherited the ball at the entrance to the area, before hooking and then releasing a volley from the outside of the foot which was lodged in the top corner. The Albanian attacking midfielder, who is entering his fourth season with the Corsican club, allowed his team to win the point of the draw (2-2) by equalizing again (59th) while the ACA was reduced to ten.

In the other matches of the evening, Pau won at home against Nancy (2-1) and Auxerre defeated Amiens (2-1) at the Stade de la Licorne, while Valenciennes-Niort and Le Havre-Guingamp ended in draws (0-0), as did Dunkerque-Quevilly (1-1).

Monday (8:45 p.m.), this inaugural day will end with the meeting between Dijon and Sochaux.

This first day of Ligue 2, which opened with the draw between the promoted Bastia and the relegated from Ligue 1 Nîmes (1-1), also marked the return of the public to the stadiums, after a season almost entirely played without supporters.

Health pass in hand, spectators were able to find their favorite team.

The return of Ligue 2 was largely visible to all, since the multiplex will be broadcast in clear this season, on the channel L'Équipe.
