Liverpool announced today (Thursday) that Joe Gomez has undergone knee surgery and will begin a rehabilitation process that will "deduct him from large parts of the 2020/21 season".
"The surgery was intended to repair the tendon damage and was crowned with success," the club's official website said, "No damage to the knee ligaments was found."
The brakeman was injured last night in the England national team training and the Reds' fears were great - so great that today it was reported in "Sky Sport" that Liverpool were relieved when it was announced that Gomez apparently did not finish the season.
"After being examined by doctors on Wednesday, Gomez drew some hope when it was announced that his season was not over," it read.
"This news makes him believe he may be able to play for England in the next Euro. Liverpool hope he can play again towards the end of the season, and yet it is very difficult news for Jürgen Klopp who has already lost Virgil Van Dyke."

Former Sky and current Sky commentator Jamie Redknapp was injured and said: "I'm very sad about Joe Gomez if it's a serious injury, he's a young guy who's had a knee injury in the past and came back great. Without Van Dyke, but without Van Dyke and Gomez it will be even harder. "
Asked what the champion should do now, Redknapp replied: "You do not want to bring in someone for £ 40-50 million, because maybe one of the two brakes will be able to come back faster than expected.
But if Gomez is really injured, one must go to the market and bring a brake in January, as soon as possible, even on loan.
It will not be easy to bring in players.
Everyone knows you're desperate and the prices are going to be huge. "
Former player John Aldridge actually thinks Liverpool have solutions within the squad:" Fabigno can play as a stopper, as do Jordan Henderson and Giorgini Vinaldom.
The youngsters were excellent, but will that be enough in the long run?
Not sure".
