An intervention was underway this Wednesday evening in Montoire-sur-le-Loir (Loir-et-Cher), after an explosion in a house around 6.30 p.m.

The Loir-et-Cher fire and rescue department said on social networks that the disaster had, for the time being, killed six people.
50 firefighters and 24 machines were on site around 9 p.m.
Six homes were also evacuated.

According to the newspaper, two women aged 55 and 62 were taken to the Vendôme hospital center after being injured by the explosion and the throwing of projectiles.
The search for potential victims continued into the early evening.

Avenue Gambetta, the main axis of the town, was cut off from traffic during the intervention.
In addition to firefighters and emergency services, many gendarmerie forces and a canine brigade were also on site.
