Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stressed the need to tightly protect his country's borders with Ukraine.
"We have approximately 1,500 km of southern borders of Belarus and Ukraine, these borders must be tightly protected, and we must create an army and entire units to protect it," Lukashenko was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying today during a meeting in the city of Luninets on strengthening the military security of Belarus.
Lukashenko considered that the Ukrainian leadership is under external control and sometimes acts unexpectedly, so it is not possible to predict what will happen and a decision must be taken regarding military operations.
Lukashenko had noted, in statements published by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense earlier, that Ukraine was massing forces near its border with Belarus.
