A suspected fraudster from Germany has been arrested in Mallorca.
The woman is said to have faked her death to avoid embezzlement proceedings.
The police of the news agency dpa confirmed a corresponding report in the newspaper "Diario de Mallorca" on request.
The 47-year-old is suspected of having defrauded her former employer out of one million euros, the newspaper wrote.
Last November she was supposed to appear at a court hearing in Mallorca.
Instead, her parents announced that she had died in a car accident in Rostock in March and presented a forged death certificate.
Telltale giant poodle
The damaged company, however, questioned the information and hired private detectives.
Based on traces in social media, they came to the conclusion that the woman may have been living under a false identity in Santa Ponça on Mallorca.
The detectives found out through photos on the Internet that the woman owns a giant poodle.
And these are rarely found on the island.
For this reason, they observed the area around the suspected place of residence of the woman, as the newspaper reports.
A man who went for a walk with such a dog finally led the detectives to the house of the wanted.
The police were then notified and arrested the woman at home.
In doing so, she admitted her true identity.
She was brought before a judge who released her under certain conditions.
