  • A man rescued a baby from a parked vehicle on Fehmarn in mid-summer .
  • The rescuer did not receive any thanks from the vehicle owner, but a complaint .

Munich / Burg auf Fehmarn - Everyone should actually be aware of the danger - nevertheless, such incidents do occur again and again: Pets and children are left in parked, closed cars in midsummer temperatures. In a parked vehicle, enormous heat is generated in a very short time , so that the helpless occupants can get into life-threatening situations. This is what happened last Friday, August 7th, in Burg on Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein .

Rescue operation: man takes baby out of parked car at high temperatures

A man from the district of Celle heard the loud crying of a baby from a Toyota parked for parking . The passerby said he parked next to the vehicle and heard screams. The parking ticket, which was laid out in the windshield, had been bought eleven minutes earlier. He then called loudly across the parking lot and asked who the car belongs to. The 47-year-old reported to the police that he had also asked two men in the immediate vicinity for information about the vehicle owner. After receiving no answer, the man did not hesitate and smashed a side window of the parked vehicle and rescued the baby from the car.

The 57-year-old owner of the Toyota returned to the car a short time later. The Lübeck and Ostholstein police wrote on their Facebook channel: “He reported that he and his family had stretched their legs in the parking lot and went to the sanitary facilities. Because the baby slept soundly and the car was in partial shade, the baby stayed in the car for a short time. And after about ten minutes he was back to check on the baby. "

Rescue operation: the vehicle owner reports the rescuer

The Bremen family man was by no means happy about the passerby's rescue operation - on the contrary. Instead of saying thank you, the man who got the baby out of the car received a complaint for property damage . The vehicle owner found breaking the window disproportionate and insisted on filing a criminal complaint with the officers who had arrived.

The police officers, in turn, wrote a report on the suspected child welfare risk and forwarded it to the youth welfare office . "On the part of the Fehmarn police station, in addition to the complaint for property damage, a report on the suspicion of endangering the welfare of the child was prepared and sent to the competent authority," says the Facebook post.

Fehmarn: Rescuers received a lot of encouragement on social media

In the comments , the man from the Celle district received a lot of encouragement for his rescue operation . One user commented: “The man who smashed the window did everything right! It's a shame that the car is worth more than a human life ... Thanks to the gentlemen for so much moral courage! ”Another user also expressed her opinion:“ The rescuer acted very right. Leaving a baby / child / dog alone in the hot car is not possible. Every second counts. The interior heats up even in partial shade. "

Again and again, pets are left behind in the car when it is very hot *, also in Munich. Anyone who leaves a dog in the vehicle when it is very hot must tolerate a fire brigade to rescue the animal - and bear its consequences. Can I break a window to save an animal?
