A person claiming to be the author of the shootings having seriously wounded a thirtysomething by gunshot was taken into custody, a police source said on Tuesday.
The man spontaneously presented himself to the central police station in Montpellier on Tuesday morning, according to the daily Midi-Libre which reveals the information, adding that he too would have been shot in the altercation.

Monday, while the President of the Republic and the Minister of the Interior had arrived in Montpellier, a man was seriously wounded by bullets in the Beaux-Arts district, close to the old center.
The gunman had fled in a light vehicle and the weapon, the type of which was not specified, was found there.
Wounded in the chest and in the back by three bullets, the thirty-something remained in critical condition Tuesday evening, according to Midi-Libre.
The judicial police were seized of the investigation.
