The CSU chairman Markus Söder has called on the Union to unity.
"We could experience a political era change with a traffic light government, so it is important that the CDU and CSU show a new unity," he told the "Welt am Sonntag".
It is about "that we get away from accusations and talk to each other more again."
Söder added: "We have to become the bulwark against a left slide in Germany." The CSU chief announced that he would not seek a fundamental blockade against the federal government in the Bundesrat.
However, he hoped for country alliances against possible "centralist efforts" from Berlin, for example on the subject of education policy, said the Bavarian Prime Minister.
At short notice, Söder had decided not to appear at the Junge Union's Germany Day in Münster, which many delegates criticized in their speeches.
The CDU chairman Armin Laschet spoke in Münster that morning.
JU boss Tilman Kuban praised the fact that Laschet faced the discussion among the Union's offspring.
Söder had once been defeated in the internal struggle for the candidacy for chancellor and had repeatedly poked against Laschet.
CDU politician Friedrich Merz recently criticized the behavior of the sister party CSU in the election campaign.
"The year 2021 marks a low point in our cooperation and our dealings with one another," he wrote in his newsletter.
“We don't all have to be completely convinced of every decision at all times.
But just like in the weeks leading up to the election, in a Union that still calls itself "bourgeois" people simply don't get along with each other.
That was stylistically, disrespectful and at times rowdy. "
The CSU boss is a "Franconian bulldog who lacks any political decency," complained about the CDU European politician Dennis Radtke.
In the »Welt am Sonntag«, Söder now campaigned for a new cooperation between the two sister parties, the CDU and CSU.
"In terms of style and content, we should move closer together again instead of talking publicly about each other," said Söder.
"The CSU will therefore not give any public advice, but - if so desired - help to stabilize the Union."
