Which masks have to be worn where is often not really clear.

A pensioner from Baden-Württemberg now knows: Despite the surgical mask, Aldi quickly put him outside the door again.

The social media team at Aldi* Süd often does not have it easy.

After all, it is the employees there who are at the forefront and on whom customer anger is discharged unfiltered.

Just recently, for example, they are confronted with a comment that went completely wrong*, as reported by HEIDELBERG24*.

At that time it was about possible corona-related restrictions in retail * – for Aldi, you have to be so fair, you really can’t do anything.

However, employees often have to deal with justified criticism.

Not an easy job.

Especially when it comes to the said Corona rules, it really gets tricky from time to time.

On the one hand, because they naturally change frequently and are never the same everywhere, on the other hand, because (not only as a customer, by the way) you quickly lose track of things.

And then there are sometimes situations that – to put it mildly – are unfortunate and also a bit stunning.

FFP2 mask requirement at Aldi: should or must customers wear a face mask?

This happened recently in a branch of Aldi Süd, which is now shaking heads on the discounter's Facebook page.

"I have to ask such a stupid question now,"

User Mehmet begins a post. And so much right away: He certainly means this introduction ironically, because the question is really not as stupid as he announces it. "Are you no longer allowed to go shopping with these masks?" He has attached a picture of a pack of blue surgical masks, as we now know them well enough from everyday life.

Mehmet's problem: Apparently, an Aldi branch no longer accepts these masks for customers - and with bitter consequences:

"My father, at the age of 78, was thrown out of ALDI SÜD Kornwestheim yesterday because you weren't allowed in with it.

He's even vaccinated.

Nobody can see through that anymore.”

And he is undoubtedly right about that.

In fact, the Corona regulation in Baden-Württemberg * (and that's where Kornwestheim is located) at the time only stipulated that FFP2 masks should be worn

indoors

.

No need

to talk about

that .

That only changed with the new edition of January 12*.

Despite everything, the senior was apparently promptly rejected.

Mask requirement in the discounter: “No one really sees what they pull off anymore”

And the comments of the users are accordingly.

"Yeah bad... And with the ffp things I can breathe even worse... No one really sees what they're pulling anymore."

, can be read there, for example. Others have obviously had similar experiences, also in other discounter chains:

"It was at Lidl for me!? He himself the normal blue one, but customers FFP2, typically Lidl.”

Or:

“Lower Saxony has had FFP 2 for 2 weeks. I also think the uniform rules are really great. —Irony off—“.

But: As incredibly mean as the certainly pitiable elderly gentleman may understandably felt about the situation, it is actually up to the retailer who he lets into his shop and how. And commentators point that out, too. Melanie, for example, writes:

“Each shop has its own domiciliary rights. Even if there is no obligation, the operator can make its own stricter rules and implement them. In other words: YouComeHereNetRein without FFP2

THE SAME APPLIES TO 1G...or just freshly showered, or only fully dressed, or no entry in jogging suits or whatever.”

That may be a bit exaggerated, but basically she's right.

The crisis-tested Aldi Süd social media team has not yet commented on the case.
