(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, APRIL 24 - "Istanbul has 16 million inhabitants, a population even larger than many states. Over half of the 100,000 infections in Turkey are here. We have asked the government for a permanent curfew, but the request has been ignored". The mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu, a member of the opposition CHP, says it in an interview with ANSA. A curfew has been imposed in Turkey over the past two weekends, and is now in effect for 4 days until Sunday, but the executive has decided not to extend it to weekdays for fear of damaging the economy.
