A 41-year-old man stopped a heavily drunk driver with his car on the B194 near Grimmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
He noticed the vehicle on Monday afternoon at around 3 p.m. because it ran serpentine lines and repeatedly got into the opposite lane, the police said.
So he overtook the man in front and slowed him down.
After both had come to a standstill, the man reportedly got out and stood in front of the vehicle.
When the police, alerted shortly thereafter, arrived, the officers showed a special picture: The drunk 44-year-old had fallen asleep behind the wheel and had to be woken up.
Accordingly, 3.43 per mille of alcohol was measured in his breath later.
A blood alcohol level of 3.0 or more can be life-threatening.
Symptoms of severe alcohol intoxication include loss of consciousness, loss of reflexes, memory loss, and poor breathing.
