Meghan Markle will release in June a children's book, entitled
The Bench
(
"The Bank"
).
The book will look at the relationship between a father and his son.
To write it, the Duchess of Sussex was inspired by her husband Prince Harry, and their son Archie.
The book is the latest project for Meghan Markle and her husband, the Queen of England's grandson, since they stepped down from their duties with the Royal Family.
The couple have settled in Los Angeles with their son, who is about to turn two.
Illustrated by artist Christian Robinson,
The Bench
will be released on June 8.
Meghan Markle also recorded an audio version of the book, publisher Random House Children's Books said.
“
The Bench
started out as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, within a month of Archie's birth.
Then the poem was transformed and became this story
, specifies the Duchess in a press release.
My hope is that
The Bench
echoes each family's story as much as it does mine. "

Meghan Markle, who is pregnant with a second child, is not the first member of the royal family to venture into the world of children's literature. Prince Charles wrote
The Old Man of Lochnagar
, based on stories he told his younger brothers, while Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, also wrote a collection of children's stories.
The Sussexes have been the subject of constant media attention since giving a controversial interview to American presenter Oprah Winfrey in February. The couple had accused, without naming it, a member of the royal family of having made racist remarks and ignored calls for help from Meghan Markle when she had expressed suicidal thoughts. In April, Harry returned to Britain for the first time since this interview on the occasion of the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip.
