Damascus University and the Damascus Health Directorate signed today a memorandum of understanding, with the aim of supporting and developing projects that can be implemented in the two institutions, contributing to the rehabilitation and training of cadres, and benefiting from joint experiences, in a way that contributes to linking scientific research and higher education with the labor market.
According to the memorandum signed by the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, and the Director of Damascus Health, Dr. Muhammad Samer Shahrour, the two sides will cooperate in the scientific and technical fields, and in training and preparing distinguished scientific cadres from faculty members, students, specialist doctors and residents of the Damascus Health Directorate, within a pre-executive program With a coordinator.
The two sides also cooperate in the field of exchanging available experiences, in accordance with the applicable regulations, and cooperation in the field of training, rehabilitation and postgraduate studies, scientific knowledge, and participation in scientific conferences and workshops.
The memorandum remains valid for a period of two years, and it can be extended for a similar period, and its implementation is subject to the regulations and laws in force in the Syrian Arab Republic, in particular the law organizing universities, its executive regulations, the law on scientific sabbaticals and practicing the profession, the qualification and training system in the Syrian Commission for Medical Specializations and the regulations and laws regulating the work of the Damascus Health Directorate .
In a statement to the media following the signing, the President of Damascus University pointed out that the memorandum will contribute to expanding the scope of cooperation with the Damascus Health Directorate, to include joint research and participation in scientific conferences, in addition to qualifying and training cadres for the benefit of university students.
For his part, the Director of Damascus Health indicated that the memorandum will contribute to framing scientific and technical cooperation between the two sides, stressing the keenness of the Health Directorate to strengthen and develop its relations with Damascus University, in order to achieve the public interest.
The signing of the memorandum was attended by the vice presidents of Damascus University, the deans of the faculties of human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, health sciences and education, the assistant director of Damascus Health, the head of the Rehabilitation and Training Division, and the head of the administrative development department in the directorate.
