In Mettmann, North Rhine-Westphalia, the police caught a pensioner who had been driving a car without a license for almost 17 years.
The 83-year-old was arrested on Monday after trying to evade a traffic stop, police said on Tuesday.
The pensioner was caught on a street where the passage of cars is forbidden.
After the 83-year-old stopped briefly, he fled.
Followed to a dead end
An ambulance accidentally observed the operation and pursued it.
They followed him to a dead end, on the way the man ran a red light.
When the police checked him, it turned out that the man had lost his driver's license almost 17 years ago, the statement said.
His car was towed.
A number of procedures have also been initiated.
