Mexico exceeds 10,000 deaths from coronavirus amid the return to the "new normal"

(CNN) - Mexico exceeded 10,000 coronavirus-related deaths on Monday, according to the country's health authorities.

The nation reported 237 additional deaths on Monday, bringing the death toll to more than 10,000 for the first time.

Mexico has recorded 10,167 deaths since March 18, the day the first coronavirus death was recorded in the country. Authorities also reported 2,771 additional cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 93,435.

  • Italy - 33,475

  • Mexico - 10,167 
  • Belgium - 9,486
  • Germany - 8,555
  • Iran - 7,878
  • The figures are known as Mexico begins to reopen certain sectors of the economy, such as mining, construction and tourism, in certain areas under its new plan considered as the "new normal".
