Microsoft increases the security of PCs with Windows operating system.

The Redmond giant unveils Microsoft Pluton, a chip that exploits the "chip-to-cloud" approach already applied in the Xbox and Azure Sphere environments.

The chip - explains the company - is designed to offer better integration between hardware and software in Windows computers, thus removing some attack vectors.

The Pluton presentation is in collaboration with Amd, Intel and Qualcomm.

The new technology "will bring even more security advances to future Windows PCs," David Weston, head of OS Security at Microsoft, noted in a post.

In concrete terms, the company explains, Pluton will introduce some new features and improvements, including an increased ability to protect against physical and / or hardware attacks that target identities and encryption keys to steal sensitive information, the ability to monitor the firmware and to check the integrity of the system, and the optimization of firmware updates through the Cloud (via Windows Update).
