(ANSA) - MADRID, JUN 18 - At least three migrants (two women and a man) died in the sinking of the boat they were traveling on to try to reach the Canary Islands, in Spain. This was announced by the emergency services of the archipelago. The accident occurred late yesterday evening near the coast of the island of Lanzarote.
There are allegedly missing persons, whose searches have been resumed this morning: according to the Efe news agency, at least 5 people are missing (one of them underage).
In total 41 people (including women and minors) were rescued, 12 of whom were hospitalized for various health problems. Among the latter there are four children. The first to intervene to rescue the castaways were some inhabitants of Lanzarote.
During the night, two other boats with migrants on board were also identified: the emergency services of the Canaries calculate that there are at least 110 people. (HANDLE).
