Moscow, SANA- The Russian Black Sea Fleet announced the implementation of special tactical exercises to combat and confront sabotage groups

Moscow-Sana

The Russian Black Sea Fleet announced the implementation of special tactical maneuvers to combat and confront hypothetical underwater sabotage groups with the help of a "Kalmar" sonar device dedicated to combating sabotage.

"The exercises that took place in the Black Sea included the implementation of a special tactical exercise to combat underwater saboteurs of a supposed enemy and to provide security for the fleet's ships at the main stations and at unsafe anchorages," the Russian TASS news agency quoted the fleet's press office as saying today in a statement.

The statement indicated that the “Kalmar” search and monitoring system was used in order to track down the hypothetical saboteurs, which helped to identify an unknown group of divers submerged in the water. By default, saboteurs must use special underwater guns and then comb the area for the presence of mines planted on ships at naval bases.

It is noteworthy that the Kalmar sonar was designed to search for sunken vehicles and objects at depths of up to 600 meters, in addition to determining the absolute and relative coordinates of the specific targets.
