There were already many plans on the table for flood protection in Fahrenzhausen. But never one that the local councils were as enthusiastic about as they are now.

There were already many plans on the table for flood protection in Fahrenzhausen.

But never one that the local councils were as enthusiastic about as they are now.

Fahrenzhausen

- Flood protection for Fahrenzhausen has been discussed for many years - and there were already some plans on the table.

So far none has been implemented, but everything could now be initiated.

Two representatives of the Munich Water Management Office showed a plan that was enthusiastically received by the local council.

Ideally, construction can start from 2024.

The plans aim to keep the water from the Amper south of Fahrenzhausen. Here an existing path is to be increased, on which protective walls are then provided. These should be integrated into nature and be accessible. Civil engineer Matthias Haslbauer showed that you do not have to intervene in existing properties and that the protective walls can also be implemented in the Eichet area with a little distance from the private property. The representative of the water management office in Munich stated that all existing paths will be preserved. There should be new paths on the dykes that can only be used in emergencies or maintenance work.

He made it clear that the water management office wants to work with earthfills as much as possible.

With an average cost of 20 euros per square meter, these are far cheaper than structural measures where the square meter is calculated at 300 euros.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The Fahrenzhausen protection plan manages with a larger structure, which near the sports grounds offers the possibility of pumping water from the Schmidbach back into the Amper when the water level is high. The pumping station is to be built in the Eichet area and the Free State of Bavaria has a right of first refusal for the property required by a community of heirs. Mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer explained that after two meetings with residents there are only a few open discussion points. A resident is not yet so enthusiastic that he has to sign an easement so that the protection systems can be maintained and repaired.

Councilor Robert Kern was full of praise: “We have already been presented with many plans, but this one has the fewest interventions in nature. I am glad that previous plans have not yet been implemented. ”The representatives of the water management office showed that an effective and economical solution had been found. The initial cost of six million euros has been reduced to around 2.5 million euros. When it comes to flood protection, it is common for the Free State of Bavaria and the municipality to share the costs. When the protection concept was presented, the questions came up as to when the measure could be started, and the speakers made it clear that patience was still needed. In the coming year, the current preliminary planning could become a permit plan. Procedure duration: up to one year. Then the earliest possible start of construction would be in the spring of 2024. Construction time: about one and a half years.
