A minibus for transporting tourists fell into the Evancon stream in Val d'Ayas around 6.30 pm. There were four people on board: the driver, 71, died. To ascertain whether the cause of death is linked to an illness that made him lose control of the vehicle.
The three passengers, probably from Northern Europe, who were taken to the emergency room in Aosta have been recovered and do not appear to be in serious condition.
The minibus broke through a protection of the bridge and ended up in the stream near Champoluc.
Carabinieri, Fire Brigade, 118 and a guide from the Valle d'Aosta Alpine Rescue who was in the area and who provided first aid worked on the spot. Two soldiers of the Arma dived into the stream to recover thedriver and attempted to revive him.
