Düsseldorf - Three months after the flood of the century, North Rhine-Westphalia's construction minister Ina Scharrenbach (CDU) draws an initial interim balance on the reconstruction on Wednesday (10.30 a.m.) in Düsseldorf.

Around 180 cities and municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia were and are affected by the consequences.

Scharrenbach wants to summarize together with the mayors of Bad Münstereifel, Rheinbach and Eschweiler whether and how the reconstruction aid is taking effect.

Last week, the SPD opposition accused the state government of overloading the municipalities with the flood of applications for flood and corona aid.

A report by the minister to the municipal committee of the state parliament recently revealed a long list of shortcomings, which are still lacking in many affected areas: no electricity, no internet, no heating, no clinic on site.

Affected residents, companies and municipalities should be able to submit applications for reconstruction in the flood areas from next Friday.
