The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, discussed with the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Joint Syrian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce issues of trade and investment relations between Syria and Iran and ways to develop them and overcome the difficulties they face in order to support the national economy.

Minister Salem stressed that work is underway to raise the levels of bilateral trade exchange and discuss areas of cooperation through the exchange of products between the two countries, its mechanisms and the nature of materials, in addition to cooperation in the investment field and projects to be implemented by Iranian companies and joint projects at the governmental and private sector levels, and facilitating the exchange of goods and financial transactions between the two sides in a way that helps To overcome the obstacles facing companies in the two countries.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce Abu al-Huda al-Lahham stressed the need to develop economic relations between the two countries at the level of the private sector, address the difficulties they face and explore prospects for developing them to serve the Syrian economy.

In turn, the head of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce, Fahd Darwish, presented the chamber's work plan during the next stage, stressing that the first task is to work on setting up exhibitions of Syrian products in Iran with the aim of expanding the presence of Syrian products.

Darwish stressed that the Chamber will work with all available capabilities to develop trade and investment exchange through cooperation with official authorities, unions, chambers and economic activities in the private sector to achieve this.

The meeting came after the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection ratified the decision of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce to re-form the Chamber's board of directors in a way that ensures the presence of representatives from all economic activities.
