According to the Ministry of Health in Thuringia, health care workers who have not yet been vaccinated against Covid-19 do not have to expect sanctions immediately from mid-March under certain conditions.
This applies if you credibly assure yourself that you will be fully vaccinated in the foreseeable future, as the ministry announced on Thursday.
Erfurt – The employees are given ample opportunity to complete the vaccination series.
The aim is to promote the willingness to vaccinate among staff.
From March 15th, the corona vaccination requirement for healthcare facilities will apply nationwide.
Staff employed in hospitals, medical practices and nursing homes must then prove that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Exceptions apply to people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
In order to increase the willingness to vaccinate in this area, the new Covid-19 vaccine from the US manufacturer Novavax in Thuringia should also be made available primarily for previously unvaccinated health and care staff.
This is considered a kind of dead vaccine and could thus accommodate vaccine skeptics who reject the mRNA vaccines from Biontech or Moderna.

According to the ministry, the targeted transition period beyond March 15 should apply to all vaccines.
Nursing associations and the state hospital company fear staff shortages due to employment bans or dismissals by stubborn vaccine skeptics.
Minister of Health Heike Werner (left) emphasized the goal of the federal states approaching this issue as uniformly as possible.
Thuringia is not alone with this problem.
According to the ministry's current state of knowledge, between 10 and 25 percent of the employees in the facilities and companies affected by the vaccination requirement are not vaccinated.
That is less than in the average population, where around 30 percent are unvaccinated.
