Traunstein - Below the Hochlerch summit (secondary summit of the Hochgerns) in the Traunstein district *, a 50-year-old man from the Rosenheim area * was found dead on Wednesday evening yesterday.
Family members had previously filed a missing person report with the police when the man did not show up for work.
As the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South announced, a bicycle was found at the Hochgernhaus that clearly turned out to be the vehicle of the missing person.
Thereupon the mountain guards * Marquartstein and Grassau set out before dark to look for the man in the Hochgern area.
They received support from a police helicopter and several officers from the Alpine Police Force.
The search party finally found the man in a steep gully interspersed with rocks - and could only determine his death.

At the moment, the police suspect that the man had walked a small climb, slipped there and therefore fell.
His body was recovered from the difficult steep terrain in the dark.
This took about two hours and was a great challenge for all 20 emergency services.
