A mobile rental bike station has now been standing for three months at Margreider Platz for test purposes.

The municipality would have been available for an extension at any time, but the MVG has now dismantled it.

How it will continue is open.

Ottobrunn

- Ottobrunn - At the end of September last year, the municipal council decided not to order permanent MVG rental bikes. However, around the same time an offer came from the district administration for a mobile bike station in Ottobrunn. It belongs to the MVG, which normally provides and provides it for major events. In Corona times you had a lot left. Given the fairly manageable price of 1300 euros for two and a half months, Mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU) agreed to test one in Ottobrunn. The county paid half.

He and the majority of the local council have so far refused to buy large-scale rental bikes with stations like those in the surrounding communities - due to an uneconomical cost-benefit calculation (we reported): “I have basically nothing to object to the bikes.

But I don't think it will pay off and that these bikes are of particular importance for local public transport. "

In mid-June, the station with space for twelve rental bikes on Margreider Platz was dismantled, even if the municipality had made it clear that it would have liked to extend the offer on these terms.

At Margreider Platz there was enough space to set it up

In Ottobrunn, the space in the center of the village was ideal because there is enough space here.

The town hall square had originally also been considered.

Loderer: “But then we would have had to dismantle normal bike racks to position the station.

That would have been a joke, of course. ”Margreider Platz was ideal because rental bikes had already been parked in the vicinity in the past, although rental bikes were not even possible in Ottobrunn.

A so-called heat map was created.

It should show where the bikes are parked.

The Rosenheimer Landstrasse stood out here.

Wrong parking is now expensive

A fee has been charged for parking the bikes in the wrong place since March.

"It quickly becomes expensive, with costs around 15 to 20 euros." The MVG thus allocates the relocation costs to the customer: in other words, the transport of the bikes parked in the wild with a transporter to the right station.

Loderer: "I've seen some with the engine running at the Munich subway station at Columbusplatz while I was waiting for the bus." According to Loderer, this is not very helpful, especially in terms of CO2 savings, especially not in the District.

In this respect, the users of the bike had something from the mobile station in Ottobrunn.

Now they have to cycle on to Riemerling again to save the penalty fee.

Frequency wasn't too high

Incidentally, according to Mayor Loderer, there are still no figures on how often the bikes were moved on Margreider Platz. According to his personal observation, however, the frequency will not be too high: “When I passed, I saw the stands always fully parked. But I would have liked to keep it. ”It is uncertain whether the MVG or the District Office will move again. The municipality has long since signaled its readiness to the MVG.
