The Russian region of North Ossetia, bordering Georgia where giant queues of Russians fleeing the mobilization have formed, announced Wednesday, September 28 to restrict access to vehicles on its territory.

According to the official local government channel on Telegram, the leader of this region Sergei Menyailo signed a decree "

restricting the entry of passenger vehicles into the territory of North Ossetia

", except for residents and tourists.

According to this decree, people going to holiday camps and other tourist structures within this republic will be exempted.

A state of alert has also been declared in several districts, including in the regional capital, Vladikavkaz.

Exile to neighboring countries

Such a decision will make it more difficult to travel between Vladikavkaz and Tbilisi, the Georgian capital located 200 km to the south where many Russians have found refuge since the start of the Russian military intervention in Ukraine.

Since the announcement of a " partial

" mobilization

for the offensive in Ukraine by Vladimir Putin last week, tens of thousands of Russians have gone into exile in neighboring countries, notably in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Mongolia.
