Living, working and living on the banks of Würm: Andreas Hitzler, spokesman for the community of heirs Santini GmbH, sees completely new opportunities for this.

At the local festival at the weekend, he presented the plans.

Stockdorf

– At the weekend in Stockdorf, Andreas Hitzler from the community of heirs Santini GmbH presented the current plans for “Unser Würmufer”.

In the course of a new development, the entire Würmufer between Schulersteg and Baierplatz in Stockdorf should be open to the public on both sides, explained Hitzler.

In the specially erected tent next to the Würmbühne, Hitzler and Fabian Böttger presented their plans to the citizens.

The private property north of the Schulersteg up to Harmsplatz and Baierplatz is now in one hand through inheritance, explained Hitzler.

This would result in completely new possibilities for a "worm opening" on both sides.

In the inaccessible green corridor on the west side, natural space "with minimal development" can be experienced in the future, according to the spokesman for "Unser Würmufer".

It led over the private footbridge there to the closed-off premises of the "Stanz Schmid" company with the historic hydroelectric power station.

Since the traditional company, founded in 1924, will "at some point" move to the Gautinger Feld commercial area planned by the municipality (we reported), the community of heirs is also planning development there, on the east side of the Würm near Baierplatz, explained Hitzler.

On the approximately 1.3 hectare company site, designated as a mixed-use area, "Unser Würmufer" is aiming for a sustainable mix of uses, he said.

New living space is planned, 15 to 20 apartments “with the right to rent first” for locals.

"Our Würmufer" will create new and natural paths through the whole of Stockdorf with the concept of opening up the river: in future, school children will be able to reach the primary school safely via the east-west connection.

In the tent, the citizens had the opportunity to write down suggestions.

Gerhard Nafziger, ex-chairman of the dissolved association "Freunde des Würmtals", explained that the water management office would never, under any circumstances, approve development on the western bank of the Würm in the green area near Harmsplatz.

Resident Stefanie Braun complained that the natural paradise between Schulersteg and Bennosteg was "irretrievably destroyed".

In the run-up, the water management office had already cut down the dam between the elementary school and the state road, criticized the woman from Stockdorf.

She also fears that the entire Stockdorfer Würmufer will become a party mile: "Young people are already partying on the communal part of the property by the school bridge until two in the morning," she said.
